Visit New
Westminster
This
historic city is known for its heritage architecture and
commanding views of the working Fraser River. Stroll
along Front Street and Columbia Street where an exciting
shopping district has been molded displaying fine
antiques and art as well as modern consumer goods.
Located right beside Westminster Quay
and the Public Market located on the Fraser River, you
can spend time searching for that ‘perfect find’.
Eclectic shops feature collectibles from the forties and
fifties alongside deliciously smelling bakeshops and
eateries that will not disappoint.
Climb aboard The Native, a replica of a paddlewheeler and cruise on past float home communities,
islands and fish boats while in the area. Museums,
including the famous restored Irving House and the New
Westminster Museum with its 1876 Dufferin Coach offers
the opportunity to revisit the splendor and grace of the
Victorian era.
Enjoy the sounds of jazz or rhythm and
blues when you visit Massey Theatre, or be royally
entertained at The Bernie Legge Theatre watching live productions
in the style of bygone days.
The famous Queen’s Park is home to the
province’s first spray park, Rainbow Playland and a
one-of-a-kind Children’s Petting Farm, as well as the
Arts Council’s Gallery in the Park. Many art galleries
dot the New Westminster area allowing visitors to
experience their own ‘cultural crawl’ and potentially
finding that artistic souvenir to bring home.
